Raw Steel

Create your own finish or leave bare. Bare metal finishes may vary slightly depending on environment, thickness, suppliers etc. and may have slight marks and scratches. If you want to avoid any imperfections but still want raw steel we advise you to go for the burnished look. We will send all items (unless powder coated) with a blend of bees wax & linseed oil which will protect your item from rusting. If regularly maintained it will prevent further oxidisation indoors. If removed or not maintained on a regular basis your item will create a natural rusted patina over time. In that case it would be better to go for the powder coating option. If you are planning on getting your item powder coated or painted elsewhere please leave a note at time of purchase for us not to wax it. It will be shipped with a light coat of WD40 which is easier to remove.

Please remove any packaging from your sign as soon as you receive it to avoid your sign sweating and developing rust that way.

Burnished

Burnishing is the process of polishing metal to give it a smooth shiny finish. This will also remove any scratches and marks from the raw steel.

Powder Coating - for indoor & outdoor use

Powder coating, unlike paint, is a combination of pigment compound (for colour), filler material (for a smooth surface) and resin (that melts and fuses everything together). This results in a surface finish with an incredibly durable, polymer-like finish, yet is smooth and shiny like paint. It will not protect your item forever but for a good few years.

We currently offer this in any standard colours such as grey, black, white etc. We get them powder coated in mat by default unless ordered in gloss.  If you are after a specific colour please check with us first. You are welcome to check the RAL colour  chart here.

Please be aware we do not offer clear powder coating anymore. All our powder coated items being zinc coated first to offer the best possible protection. As this is not possible with clear coating please either get it coated your end (if this is what you want to do) or chose a colour.

We outsource all our Powder coating to a local company. You therefore need to allow an additional 3-10 working times for us to dispatch your product.

Our Powder coaters will not give a guarantee on powder coat as it is down to usage, environment etc but we are happy to guarantee all powder coating for a period of 12 months if no alteration have been made to your item once being powder coated.
